Dr. Robert Austin
Bob Austin is a Dentist and a member of the Rotary Club of Anderson. He is the very embodiment of Service Above Self. In 1991, he learned that the Anderson Free Medical Clinic did not offer dental services. Within a year, he had raised money for equipment, and recruited Dentists to volunteer time in the clinic. He still volunteers at the Clinic. He has also established a dental clinic at the Honea Path location of the Free Medical Clinic. He created the Big Smiles for Little Scholars program for first graders to promote dental health.
Beyond his profession, he helped start a mission church in Greenwood. He helped start the Rock Charitable Foundation in 2007 which provides Christmas for under-privileged children. He celebrated his 50th birthday by asking for $50 from his friends, which of course he gave to charity. Ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
