Andrew Marinelli

Drew Marinelli has seen hunger first hand. He spent two years with the Peace Corps in Niger, West Africa, where he watched children die from malnutrition. The 26 year old Anderson, SC, native is now biking across the country to raise money for the World Food Program. Thanks to Lyn Kenney, Bob McClure and others, he is being sponsored by the Aiken Rotary Clubs, who funded the cost of his bicycle, trailer and other items.

To date, Marinelli has cycled 3400 miles into his 6000 mile journey from Key West, Florida to Seattle. Washington and ending in San Francisco. At 6 ft, 9 inches, 235 pounds, he does not have a cyclist's physique, but he is an imposing presence. Along his journey, he speaks to Rotary Clubs, churches, local media and other organizations about the World Food Porgram, which last year provided 3.9 million tons of food to 102 million people in 78 countries. The Rotary wheel is visible everywhere he goes.
