Miguel Pereyo
Mike Pereyo is a member of the North Augusta Club. He has traveled the world for Thermal Cermaics, a British manufacturer of insulating materials. In addition to his business, Mike would see problems and try to do something about it. His company and Rotary have financially supported these efforts. His projects over the past 10 years have included hearing aids for a School for the Deaf in Bogota, Columbia; clothing and household items for people in the Domincan Repbulic affected by Hurricane Gilbert; a well in an Indian village in Guatemala; equipment for a school in the Dominican Republic; ceramic souvenirs for High School students in Rio de Janiero that kept them out of trouble and provided clothes and expense money; dictionaries in Paariaba, Brazil; sheets and pillows for a TB Hospital in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He provided sewing machines for some older women in the Dominican Republic, and then connected them with Levi Jeans. The combination converted poverty and hopelessness to respectability. Of course, extracting information from Mike is difficult. I'm sure there are more examples and that his service above self has given him great personal satisfaction.
An ordinary person doing extraordinary things.
